Know of any famous people or event associated with the bagpipes?
So I’m giving an informative speech on bagpipes and I need some examples. So I was wondering if there was a famous event or wedding or funeral where bagpipes were played? Things from history work but if you could think of anything kind of current that would be awesome. thanks!
D-Day Bagpiper ‘Mad’ Bill Millin who stormed the beaches with only his pipes to defend him and lived to tell the tale.
The Alamo: John McGregor entertained the soldiers by pitting his bagpipes in a dueling fashion against Davy Crockett’s fiddle.
Bagpipes were played at President John F. Kennedy’s funeral.
Lorne Cousin toured with Madonna a few years playing his bagpipes at each show. (Lorne’s a good guy, we’ve met a couple times and are in e-mail contact fairly frequently.)
