Wedding Speech Toast Joke
I have to say a few words for my sister’s wedding and I am not sure what to say?
My sister’s wedding is less than a week away and I need to prepare something to say to everyone at the reception. I am very shy and I need some little jokes that I can put into my speech so that the audience will be more relaxed when they are listening to me. Also if you can provide any examples of how to start off my little speech. I am not toasting the couple but I am just saying some stuff about them and wishing them good luck for the future. Please help in any way possible especially with the jokes! Thank you!
You know what? I wouldn’t feel pressure to be funny. The MC will be funny, the best man will be funny… lots of people will be funny. I often find that people who are not naturally confident shouldn’t try be funny cause they think they have to be… I would just speak sincerely about how your sister has been a great friend to you, and that you’re so happy she’s found someone so lovely as XXX to spend her life with and welcome him to the family. If you speak from the heart it will be more natural for someone of your nature (I know this cause I’m the same!)… and the guests will love the speech for it’s sincerity. Let the rest of the speakers make them laugh.
I’d make it something like… “Hi everyone, I know there will be a lot of speeches so I’ll make mine quick! I would really just like to say that I’m so happy that you guys have found one another to spend your lives with. [Sister], thank you for always being such a great sister and friend over the years to me, and [husband], welcome to the family! I wish you both evey happiness together.”
