wedding speech thanks
How should I write my maid of honor speech for my parents wedding?

My parents have been together 23 years and got married at a Justice of the Peace 6 years ago. Now they are finally having their dream wedding and my mom asked me to be her Maid of Honor. I have NO idea where to even begin with a speech. I have searched MOH speeches and they all are for newly weds. Anyone have any ideas as to how I should go about writing it, or have any references with an example speech? Thanks!

Something like this:

Mom and Dad
I am so proud to be your daughter. (this lets guests know who you are/if they don’t know)
You don’t really know how happy I am to be here to share this special day with you both. I know this is a dream come true for both of you. This saying form Cinderalla says it all, a dream is a wish come true and from the movie Moulin Rouge– from you I have learned that the greatest thing is just to love and be loved in return.
I have known you all my life (laughter) and I thank you both for being such great parents and for honoring me with this position.
***Put some history here–funny situations from your past—thank you for being there for me thru dance recitals, gynmastics and numerous ball games. For allowing sleep overs and knowing when to be a parent and just when to listen. —-I like this last part about when to listen
***try to make some eye contact with the audience
***something about both of their personalites
***something like for example, how Mom overfills her coffee cup every night and tries to make it to den without spilling a drop or Dad has to mow the lawn in a certain way
And one last piece of special knowledge I have received from you both, is in a poem by Ogden Nash
“To keep your love brimming,
with love in the loving cup, (old English tradition)
whenever you’re wrong, admit it;
whenever you’re right shut up.”
LOTS OF LAUGHTER HERE
When laughter dies down,
just say “Love and congratulations from Me”
End of speech
Hope this helps you!!!!
