Wedding Speech Roast
When should you do the speeches at a wedding?
I am planning my wedding at the mo.. and I am trying to oganise the times for the reception..
We are getting married at 2pm in a registry office which should only take half an hour..
Then photos… how much time should I allow for this?
We then have to drive 15 minutes up the road to the reception venue..
So what time should I arrange the meal for? (We will also be having reception drinks)
We are having a very traditional 3 course british meal (probably soup, roast dinner and a fruit crumble for desert).
At what point in the reception should the speeches start?
And when should I arrange for the evening guests to start arriving? Without making everything in the afternoon rushed..
Sorry a few questions there but any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Also I am getting married in the UK if that makes any difference..

I’m organising my wedding at the mo also, so I can totally understand what you are going thru !!! lol
If the ceremony is at 2pm, even tho it only goes for half an hour, allow 2 hrs for your photos. This will give you enough time to get your make up and hair re touched, get the photos done with bridal party, parents etc and have a few differeent locations for your photos. So, that should make the time around 4.30pm.
With the reception, tell your guests to arrive around 4pm for pre reception pre drinks, then you and your bridal party can make your grand enterance at 4.30 with all your guests waiting for you. Have pre drinks for another 1/2 an hour – 1 hr ( keep in mind EVERYONE is going to want to have photos with you and talk with you ) then make your way into the reception hall ready for entrees’ at 5pm – 5.30pm.
Speeches usually get slotted in after dinner and before dessert and cutting of the cake.
