Wedding Speech Format
Can friends give wedding toasts to the groom?
This is a speech assignment for my college class. I have to give a wedding toast with my partner so in essence, 2 wedding toasts, each 5-6 minutes. We decided that our topic was going to be the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. My partner is going to toast Kate Middleton, and I have to toast Prince William.
I was wondering if it is normal for regular friends, as in not best man or anything, to toast the bride or groom.
Also, any tips on how to write this speech? Like what format I could use?
I’ve never written a wedding toast and I’ve never actually heard one before either.
Anyone can give a toast at a wedding.
However, its normally limited to the best man, maid/matron of honor, fathers and sometimes the couple being married. However I have been to wedding with friends of the couple giving them, and the rest of their bridal party.
Too many speeches make the guests bored plus they are usually during dinner, and with too many their food is going to get cold.
Most speeches are 2-3 minutes or so, 5 or 6 is more like a presentation.
