Proper Wedding Etiquette?

Is it proper or “traditional” wedding etiquette for the maid of honor to give a speech before the bride and groom walk into the reception? I’m aware that the best man gives a speech but my concern is the maid of honor. Thanks for your answer =)

It is traditional for the maid of honor to give the speech either before or after the best man, not before the bride and groom arrive. The speeches are made in succession, though.

All of the speeches given at the reception are for the benefit of the bride and groom to hear, as they are usually filled with stories about them, telling memories, and wishing them well in the future.
