Wedding Speech Audience Participation
Do Away With A Pre-Made Best Man Wedding Speech And Write Your Own
Why should you come up with best man wedding speech when you can just buy it online? There are a couple of reasons.
For one, pre-made speeches aren’t exactly the ones that are tailored to your personality. In most cases, these talk about weddings, stories about marriage, and the likes. This element is the spirit of the speech. They are mostly generic speeches and thus sound as such, and while they are a good option, they are not exactly the speeches you want to deliver in front of people who most likely know you personally. Second is the natural tendency of these speeches to sound too structured. Although these are fit for the occasion, it can’t fit the audience. You may not be able to connect to your audience with this type of speech, making your speech a bit unforgettable or simply boring. For a final speech, your speech as the best man should be able to heighten the wedding party’s spirits in preparation for the celebrations that follow.
The best thing you should do, although this may sound nerve wracking, is to write your own speech. But how can you do that?
Forget about the big day first. If you do, you’ll have lesser problems figuring out what to say, then you can focus on the more important things, such as remembering your memories about the bride and groom or a little funny anedoctate. Don’t stress out, this technique will help you get around the problem of writing a speech while racing against time.
Next, make a list of things that you want to incorporate in your speech. These can be anything from funny anecdotes that trace as far back as the groom’s childhood (if you were childhood friends) or amusing insights into the groom’s prospect of the future.
There are things that shouldn’t be missing in your speech such dates (when the couple begun dating), things which significantly affect the couple, an amusing insight into the groom’s character, and maybe a short background of the bride. You may also mention a funny anecdote or two which really happened to the groom. Talking about the groom’s ex-girlfriends is perfectly fine so long as the ones you pick are funny and light. You may also reveal some secrets about how the groom is like as a person, a friend, a co-worker, or a brother. Revealing your thoughts about the groom as a husband may also be given a twist that the audience would surely love.
Once you’ve got all the details you want to include in your speech, start writing it down. In your opening sentence, thank everyone who have spoken before you. This then should be followed with warm thanks to the audience for their participation in the ceremonies and the reception. Offer a toast for the parents of the couple then thank them in behalf of the newlyweds. Proceed to the rest of your speech. Crack a joke once in a while or say an entertaining one liner to enhance the mood of the listeners as you go along. Give them a final toast along with a short ‘wish you all the best’ wish and that’s it.
After reading your own best man wedding speech, give it to a friend and watch him read it. If he says it’s great, you’re done. If not, you can choose to polish it.
