Whether your friends have been married for a year or for fifty, the value of what this lifetime bond means will be ever increasing as their relationship grows longer. Many people nowadays choose to celebrate this with a party and along with such a prestigious event, comes the opportunity for yourself and others to make a wedding anniversary speech.
Remember Why
Wedding anniversary speeches should always be heartfelt and honest so it is vital to always keep in mind that you are talking about two people’s lives and how they came to be together for so long. The day is for celebration and about remembering the good times and the bad together. For the audience, your speech should feel like you are all flicking through old photographs together and reminiscing about times in the past. More so than anyone however, it is the couple who are celebrating their anniversary who you should be trying to please the most.
Talk of Memories
This rings true probably for older couples who have lived a more traditional life together, but talking about vows and commitments is always a solid start to your wedding anniversary speech. Make note that you are celebrating the fact that the couple listened to and understood their vows so well that, they still live by them to this day. It is also a celebration of how two very different people can meet and fall in love in a way that most probably thought was impossible. Their flaws and their virtues might be directly opposite to one another, but the ying-yang system never fails, and this couple is proof of that.
What’s it all About?
Talk about marriage and what it means traditionally. Marriage is about the joining of two people who ode to be true to one another for the remainder of their lives. It is about tolerance, laughing together, being the very best of friends and about knowing that the other person will always be there for you, through thick and thin. Every couple, no matter which anniversary it is that they are celebrating, will have been through many trials and tribulations together yet have not let them tear them apart. They usually find that if anything, it brings them closer and closer together.
Toast to the Future
Now that you have successfully raised many memories in the minds and hearts of your listening friends and family, you can look to the future. It is important to always end the speech on a very high note and propose a toast to the couple. Try to express your good wishes and pass on any messages from any guests who could not make the evening; this will always be appreciated by those absent. Raise your glass and make a toast to many more years of happiness together.
