Royal Wedding Arts And Crafts And Street Parties
Some useful suggestions for arranging a memorable children’s party on the day of the Royal Wedding
2011 is an historic year for everyone living in the United Kingdom; the Royal Nuptials offers a super chance for grown-ups and children to get creative and mark the happy union of William and Catherine.
This article will hopefully help you organise a Royal Wedding party for children; giving you tips about children’s Arts and Crafts items to prepare beforehand, activities, clothes your kids can wear, what to eat and mementos.
It is traditional to hold a party to mark the occasion of a royal marriage but how best to organise a joyous and fun event which will give everyone, young and old, a day to cherish?
The basics
The wedding is scheduled for Friday, 29th April. You won’t have to take children out of school for the day as it is a public holiday throughout the British Isles – reason in itself to get excited.
The wedding ceremony is expected to take place around 11am. Why not organise your party so that you and the kids have an early afternoon lunch followed by a tea party later on so that your family can be together to watch the great occasion as it happens on television.
House party or street party
You are required to seek permission from the council in order to arrange a street party. Once you get the official go-ahead, your street can be closed off; letting children scamper about in a traffic-free environment. The Streets Alive website is the idealplace to discover how to request a street closure.
Unfortunately, us Brits must always keep a look-out for the weather, and a street party might mean that children get a little chilly – the Met Office has warned that temperatures aren’t expected to exceed 16C – so decorating the house as a back-up plan may be a good idea.
Invites
If you are posting invites don’t forget to get kids involved nice and early to build up the excitement. In keeping with the theme, they could write the invitations with Union Jack pencils.
Once the invites have been posted it’s time to move on to activities such as making Design-a-Crown Masks; items which can be personalised with sparkling glitter.
Creating a spirit
The most obvious way to create a party spirit is by hanging out flags, bunting and balloons so that the day can become a sea of vibrant reds, whites and blues.
Ensure confetti is at hand as the vows are exchanged!
What to wear?
As all little princesses will know: it’s great fun to get creative and accessorise – items such as the Design-a-Royal Wedding Shoulder Bag are set to be a big hit on 29th April.
Kids who wish to wear a Union Jack with pride will also enjoy designing their own Royal Wedding Badge.
Party activities
It’s a great idea to combine a good bit of exercise with a wedding-themed party game; why not try| musical chairs with stop-start ‘Here Comes the Bride’ music?
Face Painting – using flag and Union Jack designs – will also be popular.
Mementos
Companies such as Baker Ross stock a range of great gifts which can be kept as mementoes by young party people. In future years, many adults should have keepsakes such as a personalised Royal Wedding Plate to remind them of an historic day and a fun party!
