Wedding Rhapsody
Classical music suggestions? Here is what I do and don’t like, what would you recommend?
I need to add new classical music to my collection. There is so much out there that it is hard to sort the “good” from the “bad” (or more specifically, hard to find things which suit my tastes, just like any other medium)
I like:
Saint-Saenz: Carnival of the Animals, Danse Macabre
Bruch: Scottish Fantasy
Gershwin: Rhapsody in Blue (An American in Paris)
Sarasate: Carmen Fantasy
Vivaldi: The Four Seasons (except Spring I: Allegro)
I like other things but these are my favorites.
What I hate:
Vivaldi: Spring I from the Four Seasons (it’s so overplayed)
Mozart: I’m sure it’s unfair to hate Mozart generally, but I haven’t found anything I’ve loved by him (I don’t hate Symp NO. 40 (Allegro Molto) but I don’t love it either.
And, I hate that cheesy wedding classical music like Canon or Minuet in D.
If anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.
I’m guessing that you are a violinist. How else would you know of the Bruch Scottish Fantasy?

Holst – The Planets
Tchaikovsky – Piano Concerto no. 1
Copland – Rodeo
Poulenc – Concerto for Two Pianos
Debussy – Nocturnes
Mussorgsky – Pictures at an Exhibition (orchestrated by Ravel)
Prokofiev – Symphony no. 1 in D “Classical”
Try a Mozart piano concerto – perhaps K.414 or K.488, both in A major
Slayers – 15 – OH NO! Lina’s Wedding Rhapsody?
