Wedding Ontario Place
Would someone tell me what or where “Tecombe” in Canda is. A genealogical reference from about 1900. help!
Every search I have attempted has resulted in inconsequential results. It may be a outdated name for an Ontario, Canada area and thus has fallen out of use. However, this is a sticking point in my research because a long deceased relative was described as a “Tecombe woman” and I need to know what that means. I have scored Google hits on some South African references and that would certainly make for some really interesting ideas, but that seems unlikely. The reference is about 1905-7, Lakefield, Ontario, Canada and March 20, 1843 of Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. These are daughter’s wedding place and date and mother’s birth date and place. Any help, any lead would be appreciated. Thanks.
My mom has been tracing our genealogy for the last several years, She has gotten in touch with actual people and they have shown her letters and such. Some of the stuff she has found on the Internet and tracked them down. Unfortunately the stuff scanned onto websites and seeing the actual document turned up different because their scanner was not on fine.
I was reading your query and wonder if the document you have with Tecombe on it could have been handwritten and faded. The reason I asked is because I left the computer to get a drink and when I came back, Tecombe looked a lot like Toronto in the distance. My great-grandmother has the old Netherland style of writing and you have to read two or three times to get what she is saying because they used the older style of penmanship.
