Plan Carefully When Having Your Wedding Abroad

For many, the idea of marrying a foreign wedding is bliss. Flying off with your loved one to somewhere hot and tying the knot on a sandy beach without a care in the world. Getting married abroad can be a wonderful experience and a great option for many people. However, its often not as easy as just booking your plane tickets and just jetting off, there are important issues to think about. These three things should most definitely be on your radar.

Cost
. People don’t realise until they start booking things up that getting married abroad can be very expensive. Forgetting transportation for the moment, there are added costs for things such as accommodation for everyone and the provision of food for the duration of the trip. You may not be putting people up in a castle hotel, but costs still add up. It is always best to try and save up more money than you actually need so that you can then cover unforeseen costs and it will be one less thing you have to worry about.

Family
. Sometimes weddings are as much about the family present as the couple themselves. Most couples simply cannot afford to pay for everyone to get over, so people often have to find their own way. Depending on which county you choose that could be very costly, and some people may not be able to travel for medical reasons. It is worth discussing your wedding plans with your family and close friends before you decide to book things in another country as you may find it is just not practical.

Laws
. It is very easy to forget that laws vary in every country of the world and when you are on their turf you play by their rules. In your home country it might be fine to get married in bars, fields or castle wedding venues, but abroad you might find that the wedding is only legal if it takes place in a church or similar. Additionally, depending on what faith you are, it might be very difficult to get the right official to conduct the ceremony in your country of choice.
