Wedding Garter Patterns
am looking for a knitting pattern?
I have seen a wedding garter that is knitted and u can use it for a head band after the wedding. I have looked for a pattern but am coming up blank
There are actually lots of free knitting patterns for wedding garters, and for headbands. If you want to knit something that will be both do this:
1. Measure the circumference of your head. Measure the circumference of your leg where you want the garter to go. Take the larger number.
2.A. If it’s your head, knit a headband to fit using a stitch pattern that has an opening in the center every inch or so (a lace pattern or eyelet every few rows). Feather and fan is supposed to be a very easy lace pattern as is Garter Stitch Eyelet. When you want to use it as a garter, run a ribbon through the holes, use the ribbon to cinch it up to fit the leg, tie a bow et voila! A garter. After the wedding, remove the ribbon and it’s a headband again.
OR
2.B. If your leg measurement is larger, knit the garter to fit, and after the wedding take elastic thread on a darning needle and run several rounds on the wrong side to make the headband fit scrunch up a bit, like the cuff of a sock.
The trick here is that lots of garters are very lacy and have a ruffle around the edge, which you may not want on your headband.
