Groom Wedding Speeches Funny
Matron of Honor speech?
Need help with the speech!!! I am the matron of honor at my sister-in-laws wedding in October. She is my husbands sister. We have only known each other for a little over 2 years but we are good friends. Most speeches have talk about things that they did when they were younger or funny little stories about the past but i don’t have any of those. We talk over email every day and i do consider her a friend, not just a sister-in-law but i don’t know what to say in the speech…. plus, i just hate giving speeches… i get so freaked when all eyes are on me! Any good ideas or websites that i can hit? Oh, and the grooms mom is crazy and so i cant say anything abouthim that may be cute or funny cuz she finds a way to be offended with everything that is said about him, even if its cute. She crazy – Thx!
I totally get this question. I was the maid of honor in my best friends wedding this past summer and it was terrifying to give a speech. We’ve only been friends for a couple of years, even though we’re very close. I’m not married so I couldn’t give any “how to” advise. I ended up deciding to keep it short and sweet so it went something like this:
As many of you know Niki and I met at our first real jobs out of college (of course change to how you met). That was a time in our lives when things are kind of confusing — trying to figure out how to live in the “real world.” At first we coped by spending quite a few crazy nights out on the town, but soon learned that with a real job and real responsibilities we couldn’t act like we were in college anymore. So as we started to settle into life it didn’t take me long to realize that Niki is the most considerate, caring, wonderful person and best friend anyone can have. It’s a good thing that she met Dan before I met her because I’d have been worried that who ever she dated would have taken advantage of all her great qualities. Thankfully she’s found someone that can appreciate how great she is and shares her goals and life ambitions. I’m very happy that my best friend has found the best man for her, and I know they are going to have a lifetime together of happiness. Congrats (toast).
It was simple — could be used for anyone. His super conserative mom even gave me a compliment. Write whatever your going to say down, practice, have a glass of wine, and take a deep breath and you’ll do just fine.
Good Luck!
