Groom Speach – Tips In Writing It
A groom speach, despite the persistent misconceptions, don’t really have to be flowery and full of witty references. Although it would be nice to have a really elegant speech, sometimes all it takes to have a really effective speech is for it to be sincere and plainly honest. A funny joke|one liner here and there could further enhance your speech. To produce a crowd-pleasing speech, here are a few tips you can follow.
Plan in advance. The ideal time to prepare your speech is just right after you propose. It is at this period that your head is filled with thoughts about the wedding and the coming preparations. You need not write and finish the entire speech though, but jotting down a few ideas for the speech could help immensely once you start working on it.
Get some inspiration by brainstorming. Not sure how to start? Brainstorm on ideas such as fidelity, commitment, family and other relevant ideas. Work your way from here.
Team up with family members. Whether they come from your side or your bride’s side, a suggestion or two from relatives can lift some weight off your back. Maybe someone in your family or her family has got some experience in public speaking, ask for his/her help.
Use a blueprint. Online, there are a number of sample groom speeches on which you can base your speech on. Try using the ideas provided by these samples and turn them into your own speech.
Limit your speech’s length. Although your listeners know that you have much to thank for and people to send your appreciation, the majority of them prefer to hear a short, concise speech. Anything that is longer than 5 minutes may sound too dragging, even if you are a funny speaker.
Don’t forget to send your appreciation to the people who have helped in the wedding preparations. These include your parents, your bride’s parents, the important guests, your best man, your groomsmen, the bridesmaids and other guests in the wedding party. Be careful not to thank everyone in the audience, however. Otherwise, you’ll spend more than a few minutes expressing your gratitude to everyone in the audience. If you feel that your speech is becoming lengthy, ask your bride to thank them instead on your behalf.
Practice your delivery. Take some time to practice your delivery. If you have a friend who can work the speech delivery out with you, invite him, if not practice in front of the mirror. Practicing helps you prepare with you speech well without necessarily memorizing it in toto. To aid your memory, prepare small cards which contain the main points of your groom speach.
