How To Select The Jokes Of Wedding MC
If you have been asked to perform as the Master of Ceremonies or the MC at a wedding, you might think you need to stand up and tell jokes for two hours, but this truly is not your role as the Wedding MC. In fact, the jokes you do select should be directly related to the types of guests that will be attending the reception. For instance, if the couple getting married and all the guests are somewhat prim and proper, you do not want to come out with dry humor because it may not be appreciated or received as you as you had hoped. On the other hand, if you are the MC and a very informal wedding where the guests are younger or non-traditional, then you might use dry humor for your jokes.
The point about Wedding MC jokes is to not continue too long, because when you do, you may end up boring some people. Therefore the bride and groom can help you with what types of jokes are appropriate. You should ask them who is going to be in audience at the reception. You are normally estimated to give some kind of speech in the early hours as the MC, and many tell jokes, which is totally fine as long as you keep the jokes in order with the people in audience..
You can make a decision which jokes to use and then begin practicing them once you know the kind of people that will be in attending. . Obviously, you no matter how comfortable you are in front of a group of people, you will want to practice your jokes to make sure you are hitting the punch lines correctly. Practice them on people you know well and those that you do not know well and get some feedback from them. You might want to replace you jokes with a different joke if they do not laugh or if they think how you presented a joke is funny..
If the story is a humorous story then remember that you can turn the story into your jokes at the reception.. Such as, you might want to tell a hilarious story (only if it is okay with them!) if you have known the bride or groom for many years,!), which can be very humorous and quite entertaining. This often works better than trying to comes up with a list of jokes to stand up and try to deliver in a funny way, especially if you are not comfortable doing so.
Finally, no matter if you are telling an amusing story or you decide to go with the jokes, as Wedding MC you should always run them by the bride and the groom before you deliver them. It is just a polite way to keep them in the loop of what the jokes are about and they may be able to suggest some pointers if they think something needs to be changed..
