Groom Wedding Speech Etiquette
The Best Wedding Speech Etiquette Advice
Offending guests during a wedding speech happens and we have all seen it. Just because this happened it doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with that person it just means that they have not followed a very important thing, which is wedding speech etiquette.
Wedding speech etiquette ususally starts with:
Introduction, this gives you chance to introduce yourself and who you are.
Welcome the guests, a number of the, depending on the wedding may have come from far away so thank them for making the journey for this special day. Also, a good idea is to wish warm welcomes if there are some guests who traveled thousands of miles (maybe from the other side of the world) to be present on the event.
Usually the speech goes in this order:
- Brides mother
- Brides farther
- The Groom’s mother
- Grooms Dad, slight pause
- The Bride
- The Groom
A couple can decide on their own order so double check with them if they have.
Also, a large part of good wedding speech etiuette is addressing and giving thanks to people who have given a lot of help and support to the wedding.
The groom and the bride usually say thank you to:
- the Best Man
- the Bridesmaids
- The Parents
Sometimes it depends on what the bride and groom want to do so check with them if they want you to hep but this does depend on your role in the wedding. Usually its quite straight forward who you need to thank eg. if you are the Best Man thank the groom, the bride and both their parents.
Good luck with your wedding speech etiquette.
