rain in pittsburgh area in June?
im thinking of planning a small wedding based outdoors in june 2012 on my property in New Castle an hour north of Pitt. I’ve been living in NYC the past 10 years so im not sure what the rain is like in western pa that time, is june primarily a rainy month? all day rains, or just a few days here and there and it comes in and goes quickly?? thanks
June is a fairly rainy month in Pittsburgh. I had my wedding in June in 2008, and it did rain. It drizzled during our ceremony so it wasn’t bad. During our reception, it was a downpour. Luckily the reception was inside, and the drizzling outside wasn’t so bad. I looked at the last Saturday in June weather for the 2 years prior & it rained both years on that day, and each one since I got married! I guess the last Saturday in June is just a rainy day!
My brother got married on June 11th 2005, and it poured from morning until night. But I’ve been to several weddings in June where it’s been absolutely beautiful too. Sometimes it’s a quick rain, but we do get all day smoggy type rains here too. It’s not uncommon to have that. Unfortunately it’s hit or miss! The best thing you can do is have a good back up plan in place, and then keep an eye on the weather channel. If they are calling for rain, have your back up plan ready to go.
I will say that having the wedding outdoors was the most stressful part of the entire planning process. I worried incessantly about it. And when it ended up raining, I laughed. Just go into it with a good mind set, and realizing you can’t do anything about the weather either way. Fingers crossed that you get a beautiful day!
