Bridegroom Speech
I don’t believe the wedding should proceed. How do I do the speech?
My wife’s sister is getting married end of November and I have been asked to make a speech. The thing is their relationship of 2.5yrs has never really been that good but due to pressure from his family, they’re going ahead with it anyway as everything is already been organized and paid for. Their relationship almost fell apart after he kicked her out of his house 2 weeks ago for the umpteenth time. Nobody in my family really likes the bridegroom at all as he’s very immature and bad tempered. He’s 25 and married once before. The bride is 28 and is scared and worried but feels it’s too late to cancel. I can’t see the marriage being a happy one at all. So she has now asked me to make a speech which puts me in an uncomfortable position. It should be humorous and sincere and I have no idea how to do it. Any ideas?
In my opinion don’t beat around the bush. Get straight to the point. If they are all for the wedding be prepared to be attacked. Not violently of course, just most likely verbally. In that case you just need to know to stick to your mind set. Don’t let them make you think you made a mistake. You’re doing it for a reason. Remember that reason.
Make sure if your sister is there that she knows not to give in. If this is what she wants she needs to be just as prepared as you do. She’s likely to get attacked also.
