Guidelines On Writing And Giving Exceptional Wedding Speeches.

You will probably be asked to deliver a wedding speech if you’re the father of the bride, the maid of honor, the best man or just a great friend of the bride or groom. How funny should your speech be? Should you be very candid? Do you suffer from stage fright?By keeping in mind the following pointers you should be able to deliver a great speech.

First things first, if you have been drinking heavily avoid delivering a wedding speech. If you suffer from stage fright request the bride and groom to excuse you from making a speech, most would happily oblige.

Nobody wants a rambling drunken speaker at their wedding. Also, do not talk about old boyfriends or girlfriends the couple may have had, embarrassing mistakes they may have made or past marriages. If you were not invited to make a speech, please respect the couple’s decision and do not steal the lime light from those who were asked.

A great way to make a memorable wedding speech is try and recall the first time you met them both, either as a couple or separately. Only touch on the good points of their relationship, and on the ways they compliment each other, making a comment like ‘ we all that it would never last, but you did it!’, is NOT a compliment.

If there is a funny event or memory you have of both of them, share it, everyone loves a good laugh as long as it is not something embarrassing or hurtful. If you are asked to give an impromptu speech you can compliment on how beautiful the bride is, how great the food is, the music, the dining hall, anything positive and thank them for inviting you and wish them luck. It’s that simple.

at the end of the day wedding speeches aren’t as scary or as difficult as they may seem. Plan ahead if you can and practice your speech with other friends of the couple or with your own family. In case you couldn’t prepare your speech or were asked to make an impromptu speech, just make sure to leave a positive impression on the audience.
