Does the maid of honor give a speech at the wedding reception?
Im the maid on honor in my friends wedding. In the reception do I give a toast or a speech? She says I do. But online they say that basically the father of the bride then the groom then the best man gives it in that order nothing about the maid of honor. Please help they are getting married on Friday.Thank you!

In the olden days, only the best man and the fathers would speak. However, it’s the twenty-first century and women – including the maid of honor and female relatives of the bride – are often called upon to give toasts at the reception.
I’m MOH for a wedding this weekend and have been asked to speak. The “toasters” will be the best man, the fathers of the bride and groom, and myself.
If the bride asked you to give a toast, it’s because you mean so much to her and she believes you will have something beautiful or funny to share with the guests. If you hate public speaking, beg off for that reason. But don’t refuse to do it just because you think it’s “untraditional.”
