Best Man Speach

Wedding MC – Tips For Success
As Wedding MC you’re almost certain to be asked to introduce the speakers, although you may not give a speach yourself. Often the roles of Best Man and Wedding MC are combined, which means the Master of Ceremonies will be expected to give the traditional hard time to the groom – at the appropriate moment.
There are two main things you should do to make sure things run smoothly, both of which require a bit of preparation – it goes without saying that if you’re giving a speech, you should have prepared it and rehearsed prior to the big day.
The first step is to sit down with the bride and groom and find out who will be speaking and in what order. You’ll find it easy to simply make a list of their name, their relationship to the bride or groom (the father of the bride, best friend etc), and some simple facts about them, such as where they have travelled from if they live far away, the last time they saw each other if it has been a number of years, or something similar.
The other thing to do is to go through that list of names and make sure you can pronounce them correctly. It may sound obvious, but before the wedding day – when you still have plenty of time – you can go through them and ask the bride and groom if there is anything you need to have explained to you about the speakers and especially how to pronounce those difficult names.
Prior to the speeches it can help if you have introduced yourself to the speakers first and make sure they know when they’ll be expected to speak. Some people may go overboard with the booze if they are nervous of speaking or simply because they are caught up in the big day, which is difficult to control. However, but letting the speakers know that they will be on in 10 minutes gives them the chance to visit the bathroom and have a glass of water in from off them prior to getting up and talking.
Follow these simple tips and you’re on the way to ensuring your day, as a Wedding MC is a complete success.
